"POTENTIAL PATIENTS, PLEASE READ FIRST - An initial visit to Dr. Anupama Upadya at the Center for Sleep and Lung Disorders in Lady Lake FL (NPI# 1922067834) was the SINGLE WORST EXPERIENCE IN A DR.S OFFICE in all our 60+ years!! My husband had completed an ‘at home’ sleep study and the outcome was to be evaluated for sleep related hypoxia (G47.36) and we decided to see Dr. Upadya for this follow up. From the moment she started the appointment, Dr. Upadya was argumentative, combative and dismissive, continually cutting us off and not allowing us any opportunity to discuss my husband’s significant health issues. She indicated, repeatedly, that since he had completed an ‘at home’ sleep study, which she indicated was “garbage”, insurance would not pay for the sleep study she would require at her facility. Once she decided that our insurance would not pay for a second sleep study, she offered to end the appointment, offered this about six times in the span of 15 minutes and even walked out of the office twice. Never even asked about self-pay. We asked her, more than once, if we could just talk about the medical issues he is experiencing and take the insurance issue out of the conversation, and she was unable to do that, always returning to the insurance issue. She wouldn’t allow us to tell her about his medical issues or very concerning symptoms and disregarded all the test results and medical information we tried to provide to her. Even when we asked for her help, indicating my husband was struggling, she just stayed steadfastly focused on the insurance issue, upsetting us so that it exasperated my husband’s breathing issue right then and there. Never before have we witnessed a Dr. be less interested in a patient’s care and immediate need for medical intervention, and only be concerned about payment. Once she decided our insurance was not going to pay for another sleep study, she cancelled our appointment and couldn’t get us out of her office fast enough. She offered no medical advice or intervention or even a referral. She should have her medical license revoked as she has no concern for the patient, not one bit!!"
