"Dr. Ryan Miyamoto is the most unprofessional, rude, argumentative, hot-headed, mean-spirited and disingenuous physician I have ever met. I began seeing him after my (non-Baptist) urologist left the area. At my initial appointment, Miyamoto’s demeaner was somewhat abrasive and unfriendly, but he agreed to continue the meds I had been taking, and he recommended Testosterone replacement by self-injection with a biweekly dose of 1.5ml, to which I agreed. The prescription & subsequent refills came in large 10ml vials, which worked well for me, but after several months, a new prescription was dispensed in tiny 1ml vials (18 of them were prescribed). I found it difficult to properly draw my 1.5ml dose from multiple tiny 1ml vials (air in the syringe) and I asked the pharmacist if he could exchange 10 of them for a 10ml vial. He said not without the doctor’s specific order, as the new prescription had specified the tiny vials. So, I left a phone message for Miyamoto’s nurse, explaining my problem and asking if the doctor could please rewrite my prescription to specify the larger 10ml vial, as it had been previously. My simple request started a month-long series of miscommunications, falsehoods and outright lies conveyed to me by his staff, giving me all kinds of false reasons why I couldn’t get the larger vial (which I had previously been getting for months). Suddenly, a new prescription specifying the 10ml vials appeared at the pharmacy, and all was well again, or so I thought. Some 7.5 weeks AFTER I had started receiving the 10ml vials again, (and not another word had been said by me, him, or his staff) I had a routine follow up appt. with Miyamoto. As he entered the exam room, he was visibly mad and red-faced. He immediately began a rant about being short staffed, saying that they had spent ‘hours’ trying to accommodate me. He said he had no control over how the prescription was dispensed by the pharmacy (which he clearly did), he said the 10ml vials are hard to get (they’re not), and then, he actually said that 10ml vials don’t even exist, his voice growing louder with each word! He then said that I had 2 choices…accept the prescription as dispensed by the pharmacy or find another urologist (again, this was 7.5 weeks after he had fixed my prescription). I told him that I was terminating our relationship (to which he grinned and nodded) and I left the exam room. As I walked toward the door into the waiting room to leave, Miyamoto followed me up the inner hallway, continuing his rant from behind me. I then turned around and told him I had never before met a doctor with an attitude like his, and that I had no idea what his problem was. Now it seems I’m banned from Baptist Urology completely, this whole sorry episode having been blamed on me. "
