"My only and most serious complaint is that he wasn't a thinker. Foolishly I came in without doing my research twice because I trusted the competency of the doctor. Dr. M went down a list of things to try before an endoscopy. He was confused by the end of the 2nd visit and wanted to go on with the procedure and had no explanation for what was going on with me. I detailed to him about what led up to me going to him and it all got shot down during the 2nd visit. After my research I found I was right about my causes. My condition was of my own creation due to gaining too much weight and overeating at night which was disregarded. All the tests came back negative for organ damage, costochondritis, blood in the stool. The pump inhibitor didn't work. But also I had no guidance on what to eat, how to eat, what time to eat from my 1st to 2nd visit. He never explained what was going on or how this situation forms. He was treating the symptoms and not addressing the causes. So I asked for a second opinion very nicely pointing my feeling of incompetence. The entire practice banned me. Who ever heard of such a thing? So I believe since he is an old doctor that perhaps didn't keep up with the current information and was just following the bouncing ball of what is typical and what to do next. He didn't listen to what I had to say. I overate the last 6 months. I overate just before bedtime. I gained 15 pounds which put me in the overweight category 2/3rds toward obese. My family has no history of gastro problems, cancer or anything. My research showed you can cause acid reflux from gaining weight due to mechanisms inside your body pushing up against your stomach if you put the weight on specific places. Currently I have lost 10 lbs and I feel better. My chest stopped hurting every morning. But I wanted a thinking doctor to ask me questions and to explain to me what was going on and perhaps some medication to try that would help heal my esophagus which is where the problem is at the moment. I didn't feel comfortable with Dr.M anymore. I give it one star for the lack of critical thinking and the 100% rejection from his entire practice Gastro Health in me asking for a second opinion."
