Obstetricians and Gynecologists - Upland, CA

"I was having an issue with my hormone replacement therapy (HRT); I was taken off a pill and place on a patch. I began having issues with the patch. I was referred to Dr. Valenzuela, OB/GYN due to symptoms arising from a newly prescribed hormone replacement patch by my primary physician. I had to wait a month for the appointment. I did blood work prior to the appointment. At the appointment, I review my history with the doctor. We discussed several vehicles for administering medications that could relieve my symptoms. The doctor brought up the alternative of a pellet implanted under my skin. She touted the benefits (90 % success rate). It would be administered once every 3 months. Initially, I agreed to do the procedure. The doctor stated that there would be need for additional blood work prior to the implantation. After meeting with the doctor, I spoke with the office staff to book an appointment for the procedure. The office staff informed me that they would contact me on Monday (The initial appointment was on a Friday.) with the appointment time. On Monday, I was told that the first available time was in mid-June (This was the beginning of April). I had already been off my HRT for about 1 month; having ongoing symptoms. I agreed to wait but I started my own research into the medication that the doctor wanted to administer. The reviews I found did not match up to what the doctor was telling me. After this review, I decided to find an alternative to the pellet. I spoke with her assistant, Jaime, about the change of mind (I felt it was too risky to take). Since they had my labs and had just seen me already, I sought an alternative like the patch I had been on. I was told that I needed to make another appointment (Each appointment is $140 out of pocket). The first appointment was “coded” as a pellet therapy consult. The referral from my primary doctor was for a review of HRT alternatives. The doctor refused to speak with me directly about my case. I was told to either make another appointment or find another doctor. Avoid Dr. Valenzuela at all costs. She and her staff view you as a number, not a person. As long as you are making them money you are good, if not, there’s the door "

"I have the cancer genes and cancer runs in my family. She did not ask any further questions about my history or any questions about my sex life or child plans. She was not knowledgeable for what preventative care I should be doing. She did not have attention to detail when giving me a doctors order for a further breast exam (marked the wrong breast). The office did not contact me with the pap results and provided no link for me to access the results myself."

"I called the office more than once asking for information about the doctor and office before transferring. I was left messages by Leslie and Vanessa 9 0 9- 9 7 1- 9 8 8 8 extension is 16 and never did they tell me I would need to pay a membership fee to see the doctor . I’m enraged that everything cost more, when I already pay so much. Here I am trying to find a doctor again!!!!! "
