"I don't write a lot of reviews, but in the case of Genevieve H. Sweet, M.D. (and not just as far as urologists go) she's one of the most proactive Doctors I've ever worked with. I have nothing but the deepest respect for her commitment to humanity and science. One of her most shining attributes is by being an effective communicator and empathetic listener, well beyond "the appointment" phase. When I say Dr. Sweet is, "making a real difference in the world of medicine," I base that observation by comparison to a myriad of other providers I've seen over the last few decades. In my opinion, her due diligence helps prove (during a time of cynical views of medicine, insurance costs and red tape) that there are "real" physicians out there that sincerely care and take an abiding long term interest in their patients. Period. Furthermore, Dr. Sweet has a broad and extensive knowledge of medicine that in my opinion far exceeds her chosen field. That keen sense of awareness and knowledge led to her helping me discern underlying issues that other providers outside her field missed completely. Dr. Sweet took up the slack where others failed, were either too busy, too overwhelmed or simply don't invest as much energy as they should as "healers." Doctors like her change the world, a patients perception and real lives, one minute at a time. I wish the medical world was filled with Dr. Sweets. "

"Do not go here if you want to be stonewalled. I did not feel the PA who spoke on behalf of the doctor was helpful or took my symptoms seriously. I came in with classic low T symptoms: fatigue, low libido, brain fog, and declining work performance. My bloodwork showed total testosterone (TT) at 600 ng/dL (normal range), but SHBG was high at 76 nmol/L and free testosterone (FT) was low at ~39 pg/mL. I explained how high SHBG binds testosterone, reducing free T availability and causing my issues. I brought research, including success stories of men with my exact labs (normal TT, high SHBG, low FT) who resolved symptoms in 8 weeks on TRT, some with TT higher than mine. I cited AUA Guideline Statement 14, which clearly states: “Clinicians may offer testosterone therapy to symptomatic men with low free testosterone even if total testosterone is normal.” I quoted it directly. Yet PA Heather McDonald insisted TRT would be “counterproductive” because my TT wasn’t below 300 ng/dL, completely misrepresenting the guideline. She claimed it was practice policy, ignored the AUA’s nuance, and dismissed patient outcomes I shared from the same Sutter Health network. I had already tried natural SHBG-lowering methods (diet, exercise, sleep) and was open to others, but she offered nothing except a libido vitamin, ignoring my full symptom profile. I asked how to lower SHBG or address low FT; she was vague, evasive, and said my other symptoms “weren’t related” to testosterone without explaining why, nor citing evidence or naming alternatives. When I asked what else could cause them, she had no answer. I asked if I’m stuck with high SHBG and low FT forever without support, she gave no direction. She said more tests could be done but refused to list them when I asked. No mention of liver function, estradiol, prolactin, PSA, FSH, or LH, standard tests to rule out hormonal causes. A proactive urologist would’ve ordered these to fully evaluate me, especially since I’m the sole provider for a family of 5 and already got spoken to twice this month by my manager over performance. She offered a follow-up blood test in 3–6 months, unacceptable when my livelihood is on the line. I left desperate, unheard, and back at square one. Then I got the after-visit summary: NO DISCUSSION NOTES about our entire debate, her claims, or my concerns. Suspicious. During the visit, I asked for titles or sources of what she was citing to contradict AUA guidelines, she said it would take 45 minutes to generate and refused to provide anything. How can a provider be so confident in “I don’t think it’s related” without explanation, evidence, or next steps? Urology deals with male hormones yet she showed zero interest in investigating mine further. She disregarded how I felt, offered no clarity, and seemed eager to end the consult. This wasn’t patient centered care; it felt negligent and dismissive. I’m now seeking an endocrinologist for tests this practice could’ve done. If I ever return (doubtful after reading other reviews), I’ll demand the actual doctor, not PA Heather McDonald. Avoid this place if you want real help. Your health deserves better..."
