We have been going to Dr Gottlieb for years. I became suspicious when he told me I had a cavity. I am over 50 years old and have never had one. I decided to delay treatment. The next time I went back, I was told I had a cavity in a different tooth. Nothing said about the first one. Went back again for my 6 month checkup and there was a different hygienist that was a temp. She took a full set of x-rays and said everything looked normal, but the doctor would have to review them, but he was out of the office and he would get back to me. A couple of days later there was a message on my answering machine stating that everything looked good. After a couple of year dental hiatus and COVID we decided to find a new dentist. The new dentist took a full set of x-rays and did a proper checkup and everything was great. So he is either a crook or incompetent. I know in my heart that he drilled into my children's completely healthy teeth just for the money. You will get a bill from them with no explanation, no itemization of the services provided just a dollar amount. Before doing anything with this guy, get a second opinion.
Gottlieb is HORRIBLE!!! I've had several bad experiences there!! He jumps from patient to patient working on everyone at the same time! The work he does is rushed and bad! I've spent a lot of money there getting cavities filled.... I think he uses a bad quality for the white fillings bc they all stain right away and I don't smoke or drink coffee or soda! And he also flattens the grooves of the tooth he worked on... how can people chew right if all their teeth are flat? Some filling and bonding surfaces weren't smoothed out. I couldn't floss between my 2 teeth bc of his bad filling job. He said, but if I fix it, food will get stuck there. Are you kidding me.... aren't people supposed to be able to floss?!?!? I've attemped to have him fix his sloppy mistakes and I would still leave there not satisfied and unable to floss... i think he was just trying to get the monkey off his back and give the illusion that he fixed it. AND then his office would try to charge me for it! I was very calm but upset when I told his office manager Dee about it and that I wouldn't pay. She was very unprofessional the way she spoke to me and did nothing but add gasoline to the fire, when she should be defusing it! I refused to pay for his mistakes and rushed work, especially since they weren't fixed! What made me finally leave there.... I went in bc a filling he recently did was giving a little pain/sensitive feeling at times. I thought he possibly didn't get all the cavity out so went back and they took an xray. He comes in and all he says to me is, let's see what's bothering you, and begins to take out the recent filling and drills. Your numb so unless he tells you, you have no idea what he is doing! I truly thought he was removing the filling to make sure ALL the cavity was out, and then going to refill the tooth. So after all the drilling, he walks out and sent his staff in to get me to sign the root canal consent form! I said I don't I want a root canal, I thought this was a filling!?!? He came back in and said, "You don't understand, I exposed your root... I can't do a filling or you will be in extreme pain tomorrow. Your tooth either needs a root canal or to get pulled." I just started to cry! I refuse to get any teeth pulled so I opted for the root canal, but I totally felt entrapped!!! He claims that little pain feeling I felt is bc the cavity/filling was too close to the root. (Then why didn't he warn me a few weeks prior when he did the initial filling or prior to exposing my root?) I can't believe that was the first time he had discussed anything with me - AFTERWARDS! Just the way that whole situation went down made me question if I really even needed a root canal. Even if I did... that whole incident really upset me for a long time. He had every intention on performing a root canal, but failed to communicate that to me, until after he was at the point of no return! I talked with a few of my co-workers about my bad experiences there, only to find out some of them went to him and left unhappy as well. Some people believe he does unnecessary work to make money. It seems he doesn't have a good reputation. He doesn't try to do things by the patient's standards, and mine are reasonable. My new Dentist was shocked when he saw the bad work done to my teeth and such low standards. But he wasn't surprised that I left there and said he has had quite a few patients that came to him from Gottlieb's practice.
