TW: Mentions of sexual abuse. I experience sexual abuse as a child. It took me a long time to come to terms with it. When I finally acknowledged my experiences, I turned to Sindy for guidance. She pushed me into explaining the details of the experience, and then told me that it was “mild sexual abuse,” and that I should be grateful that I wasn’t raped. I would rather have not been abused at all, but ok. What happened to me was not up to me: it was up to my abuser. That trauma from being powerless affects me to this day, and she downplayed it. When I confided in her about my difficulties having sex, and openly wondered if it was related to my past, she brushed it off and told me that they were probably unrelated (I don’t know why she came to this conclusion). There are many other negative experiences I’ve had with her, but this was by far the most upsetting. Maybe she’s been a great therapist to others, but she certainly wasn’t to me.
