If you are a POC do not seek therapy with Robert Walters. I asked him simple questions at our initial intake and in less than 10 minutes I was able to find out that he is a closet racist who is VERY defensive when talking about racial relations. I asked Robert the following question, "What do you think about affirmative action?" He first tried to dodge the question by saying "I don't answer personal questions" so I reasoned and said, "You said you are white, so affirmative action has nothing to do with you, how is this a personal question?". He agreed to my reasoning and then said "I like to stand on the side of NEUTRALITY" so I asked him what "Neutrality" meant to him to offer him the opportunity to explain himself. To this neutral question about neutrality, he responded very defensively and said "I feel very attacked right now I don't think we will be a good fit" which was a professional way of telling me "I don't think you deserve treatment due to my white fragility." Neutrality is a myth. If you are neutral in situations of injustice than you have chosen the side of the oppressor. Robert was not only uncomfortable with discussing this topic, he was unable to set his own needs aside and perform his duties as a psychologist. If you are a POC seeking therapy and don't have a desire to experience further discrimination. STAY AWAY FROM ROBERT. (No I am not addressing you as a doctor) Additionally: Robert's method to communicate is limited only to a traditional landline phone call during the coronavirus pandemic. He is not accommodating video calls and is still charging full price.
