Asthma

Asthma is a chronic lung disease where the tissue and airways of the lungs become extremely sensitive to certain substances. When these substances are breathed in, the lungs become inflamed. The muscles around the airways tighten and squeeze the lungs, and passages within the lungs swell and tighten. The airways themselves produce mucus, which further clogs the tightened, swollen airways. A person having an asthma attack finds it very difficult to breathe, and a severe attack can even be fatal.

Asthma affects people of all ages, but people with asthma are most often diagnosed as children. Symptoms can include wheezing, a tight feeling in the chest, shortness of breath, and coughing. Some people have mild symptoms all the time, and some people have no symptoms at all, but everyone with asthma is susceptible to occasional severe attacks or flare-ups of symptoms when they are exposed to triggers. Triggers vary widely but can include:

Allergens (dust mites, pet fur, mold, pollen, grass)
Irritants (smoke, pollution, dust, chemicals)
Viral infections
Physical activity, especially outdoors
Certain medications or chemicals in foods (aspirin, sulfites)

Treatment for most asthma patients involves three steps. Patients learn what their asthma triggers are and avoid them. They take a daily control medication, usually an inhaled corticosteroid, to reduce inflammation in the lungs. Also, they have rescue medication with them at all times to take in case of a severe attack. These quick-acting inhaled medications relax the muscles around the airways and allow the lungs to open up for air.

There is no cure for asthma, but with treatment it should not interfere with daily life and activities.

Heart Problems

The heart is one of the most important organs in the body. This smooth muscle expands and contracts rhythmically an entire lifetime, pumping blood to the lungs and then to every other cell in the body. When heart problems occur, it becomes difficult for the body to get the nutrients and oxygen it needs via the blood. So while there are a variety of illnesses and disorders that affect the heart, most of them cause weakness, exhaustion and shortness of breath. The most common heart conditions include heart disease, angina, arrhythmia, and valve disorders.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. This includes coronary artery disease, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, and congenital heart disease. Some conditions, such as genetics, cannot be controlled. But there are many other things one can do to lower their risk for heart disease. Controlling high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, reducing or stopping smoking, exercising more and losing weight if needed, and eating a diet low in sodium can all protect the heart.

Angina is a squeezing type of chest pain that happens when the muscles around the heart don't get enough oxygen. It can be regular or infrequent. Usually, angina is caused by coronary heart disease. However, not all chest pain is angina. Chest pain can also be caused by a lung infection or panic attack, for example, so it is important to have any sudden pain checked.

Arrhythmia is the word for when the heart beats too fast, too slow, or irregularly with skipped beats. It can feel frightening, and depending on the type it can be dangerous, but in most cases arrhythmia is not serious and can be treated. It is very common, especially in older adults.

Heart valve problems can happen in any one of the the heart's four valves that keep blood flowing where it needs to go. Babies can be born with problems in their heart valves, or valves can be damaged by infections. The valves can stiffen and become less mobile, or they can stop closing properly and 'leak' when the heart beats. Valve problems can usually be repaired surgically.

Mental Health Issues

Mental health issues, also referred to as mental health disorders or mental health illnesses, are a wide variety of conditions that impact behavior, emotion, and cognition. There are many different forms of mental health issues, some of which are acute (short-term), while others are chronic. Common mental health issues include:

Anxiety disorders, such as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and phobias
Mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder
Eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia
Personality disorders, such as borderline and narcissistic personality disorders
Grief and trauma, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Impulse control and addiction disorders
Psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder

No single cause of mental health issues exists. Multiple factors may increase one's risk for developing mental health issues, including but not limited to:

Genetic history
Chemical imbalances in the brain
Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Substance use
Exposure to viruses, chemicals, or other substances in the womb
Adverse life experiences, such as childhood trauma or recurring stress
Isolation and poor living conditions

Mental health issues are typically diagnosed by a provider like a psychiatrist or a psychologist. These issues are diagnosed through psychological evaluation and talk therapy.

Mental health therapy can be an effective tool in supporting people who are struggling with unwanted feelings, behaviors, or difficult circumstances in their lives. Many forms of therapy are available, including specialized therapies tailored to particular disorders. For many issues, therapists help patients manage their conditions through talk therapy. Other treatments can include medication or stays at a psychiatric facility. Mental health therapy can help people with mental health issues improve their mental and emotional wellbeing.

I find it necessary to report Dr. Smith and his receptionist Shannon for their unprofessional behavior as a medical doctor and a staff member. He sided with his receptionist and never listen to the telephone call where she was mocking me. I asked him to go and listen to the call and he said he did not have to do that because he heard from staff and Shannon. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? I was supposed to get a Teledoc call from his office at 10:50 AM but it never came. At 11:07 AM, I got a text to login. I was working and driving so I pulled my car over and logged in at 11:13 AM, six minutes later. I waited at the rest stop on I 90 for 19 minutes yet no one responded to my call. When I called his office I had the unpleasant experience of speaking with the receptionist Shannon who told me I was six minutes late. I explain that they were supposed to call me at 10:50 and actually really they are the one that is 17 minutes late. She’s not only had an attitude telling me that I should’ve been on the call I was already angry and I was hurt because I had a sinus infection. That made me angry, and I said this is bullshit, and she mocked me saying oh this is bullshit ““. When I asked her what did you just say, and she hung up. I called back three times and she hung up all three times. I demanded to speak with Dr. Smith, but he never return my phone call. Another day went by and I called to schedule another appointment because I needed antibiotics for my sinus infection. He finally return my phone call on Thursday and told me that I’d be rated his stuff and then said he was worried I might have Covid and asked me if I’ve been vaccinated. I told him I had a sinus infection, he didn’t want to hearAbout his receptionist and his staffs behavior. He simply gave me my amoxicillin and went on his day. I wrote a letter and then I got a letter from him telling me that I was released from his practice because of my behavior and treatment. I want this man’s medical license revoked and his secretary to never be in the medical field again. They are supposed to help people, they actually hurt people and make them wait longer than they should have because they’re not responsible caring staff members or a responsible caring physician.
