The first visit was very awkward. She kept pressing wanting me to say that I did some kind of drugs, which I don't. Then she very gruffly said, "Don't ghost me!". As time passed there were at least 3 visits she did not show up for. When a crisis arose, it seemed to click something with her and she was somewhat aloof and not any help at all. I had PTSD and was really struggling I finally sent her a message after her missing another appointment and told her, "I was experiencing additional anxiety from waiting on appointments that were cancelled and I found another provider." Her response was clueless. It was as if she was unaware of her lack of professionalism or duty as a licensed counselor. It was not a good experience.
Renee missed our consultation without any notice. My partner had taken off work early to be at the appointment so with only a few minutes of the appointment remaining, I called to see if there was some sort of misunderstanding or technical issue explaining her absence, but as there was no answer, I left a voicemail. She called back an hour later, making excuses and offering a minimal apology that came across as defensive and unprofessional. She requested to reschedule, to which I happily accepted. After getting off the phone, my partner and I both felt she had been somewhat rude and unprofessional. Ultimately we decided to go with another therapist. A few days later, a day in advance of our reschedule appointment, I politely canceled via a single text message, to which she replied very rudely and unprofessionally saying she was going to tell me we weren’t a good fit anyway and not to message her again. This opinion she had formed after only the brief interactions I’ve described. This does not seem like appropriate behavior from a mental health professional whose job it is to create a space where people are supposed to feel safe and free of judgement.
