My husband and I are looking to start our family so I had some questions heading into my annual this year to make sure I was in a healthy spot before we started trying. My appointment was rescheduled by the office several times and the first available was with Dr. Anderson who I hadn't seen/met before. Instead of introducing herself and answering my questions, she belittled my concerns and told me to stop getting my research from TikTok (which I hadn't been). She also told me that if I were to have fertility issues, it was most likely going to be my fault for being anxious. Instead of validating my concerns, answering my questions, and assuring me that I was a healthy individual, she made me feel small, crazy, and unprepared. I think everyone, women specifically, should feel comfortable voicing their concerns to their doctor. Even if I had been getting my research from Google or TikTok, shouldn't most doctors be happy that patients are seeking their opinion instead of going down research rabbit holes? It was a heartbreaking experience to start off our journey of making a family and I have chosen to find a different doctor's office altogether. I truly hope that Dr. Anderson does better for her current and future patients.
