Narineh Kamali was a DCFS social worker for our former foster daughter in 2017. Perhaps something has changed in the last 5 years, but when I knew Narineh, her attitude was one of accusatory neglect. Our foster daughter had severe and dangerous psychological issues and we were nearly murdered by her, as her mind degenerated to the level where she believed that she was being possessed by a demon named 'Melable'. I would describe Narineh Kamali as 'bumbling', arrogant and incompetent. She ignored crisis level mental health situations for weeks, literally ignoring over a dozen emails, phone calls and text messages begging for help and to remove the child from our home. The few times Narineh would communicate with us, she was incredibly rude and acted nervous or anxious, like she had no idea what she was doing. It is the result of Narineh's lack of competance that resulted in our foster child sexually assaulting my wife, attacking us and nearly murdering us. When my wife and I reported that the child had assaulted us and was claiming to be possessed by a demon named 'Melable' that she saw in the mirror - a 'demon' that this child claimed would take over her body and make her 'do things', Narineh Kamali was rude and bizarrely accused us (for alleged demonic possession???) We even sent her video evidence of this disturbed child assaulting us and having a complete mental breakdown, yet she did nothing. The child was torturing our kittens, grabbing my wife's breasts, attempted to seduce us both, threw books at my head, slapped us, pushed us and began talking about murder. This culminated in a complete psychological break on Thanksgiving 2017, where we were trapped in a house with a child so terrifying that we had to barricade the entryway to our bedroom at night so she couldn't murder us in our sleep. By the time Narineh realized how bad the situation was, the child was so disturbed that she had to be tied down and removed via ambulance. I won't repeat what this child said, but it was so bad and so demonic sounding that a PMRT team was dispatched and they were so terrified of this child (I still have nightmares about what this 13 year old child was saying) that they refused to even come back in our home, opting to wait on our doorstep. It was described to us by a man named Teddy from the Department of Mental Health children's division as "the worst foster care situation" he had ever seen or heard of. And it was all Narineh Kamali's fault. I was told that she was fired from DCFS and that tracks, as she went into private care a couple of months afterwards. So keep that in mind, as DCFS already has such a low bar for social workers. Narineh Kamali was criminally negligent in her duties. We later learned that the foster child's psychological issues and sexual aggressiveness issues were known by Narineh Kamali and she intentionally withheld the information from us in order to trick us and guilt us into maintaining the child's placement. Our lives were knowingly placed in danger and kept in danger by Narineh Kamali's direct actions and inactions. It was a complete and utter failure towards us, towards a child whose needs should have been met in a hospital or group home setting and a complete failure to every child we would have eventually helped through foster care or adoption. We were so disgusted with how the situation was handled that we eventually de-licensed and we share our experiences with anyone looking to start a family through foster care, so that they can see both sides of the story. We were left with months of trauma and severe PTSD that we have only begun recovering from after a year. We were so afraid of this child escaping from the psychiatric hospital that we moved, equipped our new home with nine security cameras and put alarmed sensors on every window and door. After we had the child removed, we made complaints with DCFS, DCSS, the foster care ombudsman and even filed police reports. So it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Narineh's venture into private care was the result of being fired from DCFS (I have no evidence for or against this, just speculation). Please keep all of this in mind if you ever find that Narineh Kamali is your child's therapist or social worker.
I had the fortune to have her as a therapist for my son. She did an amazing job validating my concerns and overall listening to my issues that needed to be resolve. Therapy is not a magic pill, but I have to say that over time it was a life changing experience for my son. The pandemic had a extremely bad and negative impact on my son and as a parent I struggled to deal with it. I had my full time job at home but it became a really bad situation when I had my second full time job as a mom at the same time. There are no words to thank her for her patient and kind encouragement that she provided during crisis times. She was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend her and I would go back to her if needed.
