Nada Hannawi, APN

In August I was assigned to the Nurse Practioner, Nada Hannawi at Clifton Obgyn. For the first time in my life at 32 years old, my periods were changing.  I spent a lot of time with the assistant before Nada came in. The assistant made all of her notes into the computer as they usually do. When Nada came in, she introduced herself, asked me what was going on, but once I started explaining everything to her, she turned her back to me and was looking at the computer notes. I felt like I was talking to myself. When she was done reading, the whole time I was sitting on the exam table speaking to her back, she cuts me off and tells me that they will be ordering bloodwork, an ultrasound & she did a pap right then and there. She finished the pap and told me to come back in 2 weeks for my test results. She did not ask me if I had any questions, she was out the door.  I did the bloodwork and Ultrasound right in the office, so that was convenient. 
I came back in 2 weeks. Ultrasound and Pap are Negative, great!! She tells me "We have to diagnose you as PCOS due to the irregular periods I'm going to prescribe you Metformin, take it for 3 months, follow up in November".  She didn't even ask me if I knew what PCOS was. You can only imagine how frazzled I was when I left there realizing she didn't say "You have PCOS". It was "We have to because of so and so"... not very matter of factly confident. 

My Sept-October cycle was worse than it's ever been. I called the office telling her that I've been bleeding for 3 weeks. I explained that over the past 2 days, I was going through a overnight pad every 40 minutes. She told me to let nature run it's course. I ask her about blood loss?  She tells me I don't have to go to the hospital this month, but if it happens next cycle, then I should go to the hospital. HUH?!!  She then told me, as we were on the phone and I was speaking to her, that she was looking at my chart as I was speaking to her - so again, she did not really listen to me.  I knew right then and there something was wrong. 

I searched online for highly recommended Obgyns. I called another doctor, got in that week for a 2nd opinion with another Nurse Practitioner. I brought all of my labs with me that Nada ordered. Nada's notes said "Normal" Ultrasound, but absolutely no details on the paperwork. The new NP was looking at it in disbelief as the bloodwork ordered was only about half of what should have been ordered. This new Nurse Practitioner also had an Ultrasound in office, she did not trust Nada's notes or the "Normal" Ultrasound results. Mind you, at this point I have been bleeding for over 1 month. She had me do another Ultrasound right after we had a whole 10+ minute conversation and 10 minutes after my ultrasound - she came in to talk to me about my POSITIVE result. That's right, I didn't have to go home and come back days later to review my results just so that provider could get another office visit ($$) out of me.   How does Nada and her team completely miss the fact that I have a large Cyst AND a Fibroid in my Ovary????  Also in case you were wondering... I do not have PCOS either. 

If my review does not demonstrate medical neglect and Nada being a cold, uncaring person, I don't know what does. She does not deserve to be licensed, or even in this industry at all.  She misdiagnosed me because each time she had me return to the office, she never asked me any questions and she was in the room with me for 2-3 minutes.  If the doctors at this practice do not care about their reputation so much as to hire someone like Nada Hannawi, then I don't trust these doctors either.
