Dr. "Wrong" took over my care when my surgeon retired and is now refusing me after care for endometriosis scar tissue adhesions on the basis that I am "not female" anymore because I lost my reproductive system to my disease and he only treats women. Meanwhile all the other specialists keep referring me back to him because they don't treat endometriosis. I am in horrific pain and his response is basically, "no you're not, and if you are, it's not MY problem." He also believes in the old world practice of telling women to have a baby to treat endometriosis. That's what my mother was told, and that's why I was born.... not because she wanted me, but because her doctor told her to have a baby. Babies are not prescriptions, they are people. But now that I can't have any, I am not viewed as a real person either... Some day I can only hope that future generations of women will not have to endure such sexism in their medical care.
