My biggest regret was going to him.  He made things worse. I was verbally abusive & called 3 names by the other party in the room & when I spoke up about it Michael said he didn't hear it. He didn't listen & that was HIS job! I was also threatened 3 times & not once did Michael tell him to CALM down. Michael wouldn't let me discuss the past (it was our 2nd session). He says discussing the past was pointless. How can you counsel someone without knowing why we are in his office to begin with? The other party didn't want to discuss the past because the other party didn't want to own up to it. So this gave the other party a free pass. Then Michael had the audacity to tell me that "it was none of my business" when I was going to report the other party of unethical behavior regarding NEGLECT. I spoke to two other professionals (one of which was another therapist) after that 2nd session and BOTH professionals told me I did the right thing reporting the situation to the proper authorities. Excuse me, but if I am aware of a situation that involves neglecting children IT IS MY MORAL AND ETHICAL OBLIGATION TO REPORT IT! I was also paying him out of pocket because he wasn't covered under my insurance & he wouldn't let me speak. He told me that I don't get to choose what we talk about that he has to lead the discussion. How can you lead without knowing the past and why we are there? I fully understand that one person cannot take over the conversation without others speaking; however, Michael just wouldn't let me speak & explain myself AT ALL! Because Michael was so one sided, the other party felt the desire to not be there and got up, thanked Michael and walked out by threatening me again. What a waste of $225. NEVER again!
