Dr. Marvin Lloyd Marshall Jr.

Me and my family have been under the care for dental issues (routine and otherwise) with Dr. Marshall for over 10 years. He and the staff have been excellent to us. We never had any issues getting access to Dr. Marshall. Even during a visit to the hygienist, he would at least come in once at the end as a final check before the patient is released. He has always been able to get us in, nearly on the same day, if it is an emergency - which I like very much. They always offer additional services, which we have sometimes accepted after discussing the cost, insurance coverage etc. They are very friendly, courteous, and professional. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new general dentist.

Seems like the practice is run by the hygienists and front desk staff to generate cash flow.  Once they verified my insurance, they recommended that I get multiple Crowns on several teeth with past restorations; doctor may be risk-averse to repairs/restorations.  It was frustrating and very difficult to meet with Dr. Marshall to discuss his recommended treatment plan for me during repeated office visits with the hygienist.  Office charged me for procedure not covered by my insurance without my approval.  Office charged me for prescription toothpaste and rinse without giving me the option to buy them at a pharmacy with my prescription benefits for a lower cost.  They also pushed to sell me a $140 Rotadent toothbrush that is cheaper online.  I feel that the office's billing ledger practices are designed to make it difficult for the patient to clearly understand charges, insurance payments, and write-offs; billed amounts in their records differed from those cited in my insurance EOBs.  He may be a competent dentist, but I was just not comfortable entrusting them with my dental care.
