I've been seeing Dr. Mahtab Vaziri for two years. My previous optometrist, Alan Glazier, is at the same practice. Both are excellent, albeit in different ways. Dr. Vaziri excels at listening, observing and taking the time to get things right. Many times she was the first to diagnose a potential issue with my eyes. Then she'd sent me to a specialist just to make sure. The specialist always comments on how extremely detailed the notes from Dr. Vaziri are and how s/he loves getting referrals from her because there are no screwups. Inevitably, the specialist tells you what Dr. Vaziri told you in the first place, but with less patience and less detail. Dr. Vaziri has several times helped me with medication issues where I was prescribed something that really just didn't work for me - the medicine irritated my eyes to the point where I couldn't see most mornings or, in another case, I couldn't get the drops in because they were too gelatinous. Instead of telling me, hey, that's what this medicine does (which every other doctor had), she thought about the reasons why this might be occurring, figured out something that might fix the problem, and inevitably her suggestions worked. This in turn makes it possible for me to actually take the medicines, rather than giving up on them. I love her practicality - and her humility. She is extremely modest; you really don't understand how good she is until you go to the high profile alternatives featured in the glossy magazines and realize, whoaah, my regular doctor is way better. She gives very high quality care.
