My son fell and "bruised" his tooth. He is only 17 months. We brought him to Dr. Weisberg to take a look at his tooth, and see what could be done. The Dr. did not even look at his tooth under a light ! He lifted his lip, looked at it for 2 seconds and said it needs to be pulled, and referred us to an oral surgeon. His Father and I went home and vacillated over what really needed to be done. Pulling a tooth has repercussions. It potentially effects speech, can shift the permanent teeth, etc. We called the Dr. back and said, "We are torn here. You really did not even properly look at the tooth under a light, etc. We have nothing to make an informed decision." The Dr. said he would refund the $60 visit fee. Unfortunately, he could not refund us the time he had wasted. To add, the front office staff was really terrible. The office manager was very rude. The only positive side of this, was a dental hygienist that came out to greet us while we waited for the Dr was actually helpful and polite. The poor treatment could have been due to me not having my son on my dental yet? I would have been happy to pay before we left, if he had given him a proper examination. I keep a well funded HSA plan. Also, my health plan let me know it would be covered since it was an considered an accident. Do not waste your time at this office. Lastly, my sons Father and I looked at his tooth closely that evening before bed. The tooth is chipped, and not fractured. We are keeping a keen eye on it, and have since gotten a referral to a pediatric dentist from a happy client. The client of my sons Father that referred us, had a similar situation with his son, and the dentist placed a cap on the tooth to preserve it. Just yanking out a tooth is barbaric and antiquated.
