I had the worst experience of my life with this Nurse Practitioner! She would not allow me to complete my sentences. I tried to talk to her about my concerns with skin cancer. When I was trying to talk, she loudly and very rudely said to me, "DON'T YOU INTERRUPT ME" as if I was her young child. What has happened to collaborative treatment? I'm 57 years old, and educated. I have very fair skin, I am a redhead with a lot hundreds of moles on my skin. She did not even suggest looking at my skin. She only looked at one area on my leg. Since my experience was so upsetting and she was so incredibly rude and overbearing I was unable to discuss my concerns about skin cancer with her. After leaving the office I made an appointment with a different dermatologist--which took about 3 months to get an appointment. When I finally got an appointment with a different dermatologist I was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. Thank goodness, I went to a different provider. A care provider is trained to help foresee high risk situations with their patients. However, my skin type and age puts me at a high risk for skin cancer and Lauren the Nurse Practitioner did not even suggest I receive a full body skin exam and did not look at any other parts of my body, other than my leg. In addition, she overcharged me for minor procedures like freezing off other skin abnormalities. I was over billed.. When I went to a different provider who was an actual medical doctor specializing in skin cancer, the fee was simply a co pay. I paid less for 4 visits and two surgeries with the Dermatologist than with one visit with Lauren. Lauren personally billed me close to $300 dollars, for cutting one mole off and freezing another mole off. In addition, after the mole was cut off, I was bleeding and no one even asked me for a bandage to cover the quarter size wound that was bleeding down my leg. I had to personally ask for a pressure bandage. The table I was asked to sit on was visible dirty so I wiped it with a Kleenex and the dirt came off on the tissue black. When I brought this to the Nurse's attention, she did not even apologize for the filthy table. I'm so grateful I went to a different provider who was able to diagnose me properly. Thank God I went to a different provider three months later, because I had a very dangerous melanoma on my foot.
