This business is very unprofessional. I went to my initial appointment and all seem well. I completed the first time visit paper work but I noticed $75 for missed appointments. After the exam and Xrays Dr. Hotchkiss stated I had plantar fasciitis and I needed to take medicine for a week, but he never explained why I needed the medicine. He began to push many items such as sprays, compression socks, and heel cups at their prices. NONE ARE COVERED BY INSURANCE. Also a night split that was billed to the insurance company at a ridiculous price of $210. This same split can be purchased for $30 on amazon. The appointment was billed to the insurance carrier for $225.00. I had scheduled a follow up appointment for a week later but cancelled due a lack of integrity by the staff. They called the day before and stated it would cost $360.00 for the orthopedic foot inserts and insurance did not cover the inserts and by the way I could make monthly payment from my credit card. I called the insurance carrier and they stated I have $1000 of cover for ortho inserts. Something seemed suspicious about the whole process and they tried their best to get that credit card number. Many products that they are pushing can be purchased for alot less than they are stating. Be cautious and aware of these tactics that are being pushed by many physicians today. Lastly, the staff that wrapped my foot knows everything about feet and podiatry. She being working in the field for 30 days. I simple cannot rate this business because of the integrity issues.

My entire family has been going to Southern Maryland Foot and Ankle (Dr. Larry Hotchkiss - Podiatrist) for a couple years and today I am turned away for being 4 minutes late to an appointment. Two months ago they apparently instituted a zero late policy - unbeknownst to be. When I asked for proof they told me they could not produce a signed acknowledgement; they said they leave it on the reminder message, which I never received. I even called the office this morning to confirm the appointment and they never said anything about this absurd policy. I acknowledged I was late and indicated that the fire trucks and ambulances in the parking lot delayed my parking and I had to park farther away from the building than I ordinarily would have. Did it take 4 minutes? Probably not, but where is the application of what is 'reasonable'? Then I asked to speak with the doctor and he flat out refused to see me. I asked if 4 minutes was worth 4 patients and again was told they have a zero late policy, so I assume it was worth my family's business. And I assume Dr. Hotchkiss' Mercedes is already paid for. Absolutely pitiful.
