Anemia

Anemia is the most common blood disorder. It occurs when the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to the tissues. Blood loss, insufficient red blood cell production, and red blood cell destruction are the three main causes of anemia. These issues may arise from such conditions as iron deficiency, heavy periods, ulcers, kidney disease, as well as some forms of cancer.

An individual with anemia will have the following symptoms: shortness of breath, weakness, dizziness, cold hands or feet, paleness, and irritability. Anemia is diagnosed when blood tests show low counts for hemoglobin, which is the protein responsible for carrying oxygen to different tissues throughout the body.

Treatments for anemia are dependent on the kind of anemia an individual has. For example, iron supplementation may correct iron deficiency anemia. For anemia caused by chronic kidney failure, chemotherapy treatments, and HIV/AIDS, a group of medications called erythropoiesis-stimulating agents may be prescribed.

I have had the absolute pleasure of being a patient of Doctor Kenneth Bretts since birth, and I can confidently say that he is an exceptional physician. Doctor Bretts is not only an outstanding medical professional, but he is also incredibly caring and compassionate. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that his patients receive the best possible care.
Throughout the years, I have always felt comfortable and at ease under Doctor Bretts' care. His warm and friendly demeanor puts even the most anxious patients at ease. His dedication to his patients is evident in everything he does, from taking the time to answer questions and concerns to being available to address any issues that may arise.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have Doctor Bretts as my physician, and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking exceptional medical care. He is truly an amazing doctor, and I am grateful for the outstanding care he has provided me over the years.

He doesn't know much about medicine. He guesses everything. He makes you do lab tests and sends you to the hospital for test and never calls you to give results. It took me several calls to the office in order to obtain an answer from them, and when I finally got an answer the nurse just said everything was fine. So the doctor just made me spend thousands of dollars on hospitals on treatments I didn't even needed because he never gave me medicine or solved my problem.

Dr. Brett's has been my primary physician since I was born. Always kid friendly. He will tell you what you need to hear and know, even if you do not like it, that's the passion he has for his patients. This man is full of knowledge and experience. Yes, you will be waiting close to an hour after your appointment time to be seen. Here is why, when you're in his office, you're his Main focus, you will have quality one-on-one time with him. He learned to speak Spanish to better connect with his patients.
