I saw physician for assistance with anxiety from job stress. After arriving on time for my scheduled appointment, the wait to see the doctor was over 30 minutes. This doctor rushes appointments and diagnosis. He seemed too focused on seeing as many patients as possible in a day instead of spending enough time to properly diagnose them. He recommended Antidepressants after a short first appointment, which was very concerning to me without a proper evaluation of my symptoms or asking if he could contact my primary care doctor. The physician never recommended seeing a therapist, before recommending the medications and TMS, which was the proper treatment for me. The physician does not responded to calls nor calls patients to follow up after appointment. A few appointments later this physician recommended Expensive TMS Procedure as a treatment for my anxiety. After my appointment, I called the companies that manufacture TMS devices, my insurance company and got a second opinion from another physician. All three said TMS is not FDA approved for treating any disorder other than depression. The second physician explained some physician submit claims to insurance under depression treatment for non-FDA use on patients to receive expensive reimbursed for TMS procedure from insurance companies. I definitely am relieved that I sought a second opinion along with calling TMS manufacturers and insurance. It is a shame a physician would recommend a unapproved FDA and expensive procedure to patients. I would avoid this physician or if you chose to see him get a second opinion before starting medications along with calling TMS manufacturers and insurance, if this physician recommends TMS to you.
