Jiangyan Gu, LMT

This is not about Linda (Ms. Gu)’s expertise but her behavior and business practices. Aetna introduced her to us as an in-network provider. However, while she was supposed to file claims on our behalf, she stated that she could not do so due to a lack of staff. We agreed that I would pay the full amount upfront and file claims with Aetna after each visit, which the insurance company confirmed was acceptable.

After several sessions, when I began filing claims, Aetna informed me that Ms. Gu had been charging rates significantly higher than what she had agreed to in her contract with them ($34.30 per session). Despite multiple discussions with both Aetna and Ms. Gu, she refused to adjust the charges or refund the overpayment. Aetna confirmed that she should have charged the agreed-upon rate and reimbursed us the difference. Instead, Ms. Gu introduced terms like “superbill,” which seemed misleading and irrelevant and didn't refund us a penny. 

In total, I had 11 sessions with Ms. Gu, amounting to $2,574, though my actual responsibility under her Aetna contract was only $34.30 per session—not $264. To make matters worse, she also received payments directly from Aetna, essentially double-dipping. When confronted, she failed to provide a clear explanation or resolution.

I strongly advise others to stay away from this provider.
