As a heart transplant recipient, I've had dozens of medical issues in the past decade. Because I take quite a few pharmaceuticals,  I became interested in drug-free treatment for some of my conditions. When a friend recommended Jessica Moriarty and acupuncture to treat menopausal hot flashes,  I was very interested and willing to try anything.  After just one treatment I noticed that the intensity and frequency of the hot flashes had decreased. Encouraged, I went back for several more weeks of treatment. 

Meanwhile, I asked Jessica if she could also  help treat my fibromyalgia pain.  I was taking Lyrica, which helped, but I didn't like the side effects and hated taking one more drug. She explained that acupuncture addresses the weaknesses and imbalances in the entire body. A treatment for one symptom may also help relieve pain or problems in another part of the body. 

I became a regular patient, receiving acupuncture anywhere from twice a week to every few months depending on necessity.  After only 3 - 4 weeks, I noticed that my hot flashes had become quite infrequent and more tolerable. I was so happy! After several months, I felt so good that I started exercising and working out in a gym. The fibromyalgia pain was under control and I decided to stop the Lyrica to see what happened.  I was fine without it and have not ever needed it again!

Years have now passed and I still get acupuncture every 3 weeks as maintenance to keep my health the best it can be.  My doctors are all amazed that I'm 11 years post transplant and doing so well.  Before I started seeing Jessica, I was at the doctors or the E.R. several times a year for urgent issues. Now, I only see my primary once a year for my annual.  She too is a firm believer in acupuncture's effectiveness and she approves of my wellness regimen of regular acupuncture, chiropractic and avoiding unnecessary medications. 

I would like to mention Jessica's style of practice.  She is very conscious of researching and providing the right treatment for each patient. She does not believe in a "One size fits all" approach to care. She does a very extensive health history on every patient and customizes treatment for their particular condition and state of health as diagnosed using traditional Chinese medicine methods, such as studying the tongue and pulses.  She also pays close attention to how the body reacts to needle placement and asks for feedback during the treatment.   Due to my contraindications for herbal remedies, she always proceeds with caution when considering any type of natural supplement or homeopathic remedy for me.  

I have tried a few other acupuncturists in the area, but I doubt that there are any equal to Jessica Moriarty.  She is highly educated, experienced, and trust-worthy.  Her unique style of practice and individualized treatment has brought me priceless results and improved my quality of life far beyond my original hopes and expectations. I refer all my friends, family and co-workers to her with 100% confidence.
