It’s been twenty something years, and yet I still remember you. You were the one that neglected me while I was in the hospital which led to my mistreatment and abuse. You left on vacation one day after I was admitted under your care and did not return for at least a week. I was not given another doctor. This I know as I was left to sleep on nothing but a mat (no blanket and can’t remember if there was a pillow) in one of the quiet rooms for the rest of my week and a half stay. I was told the hospital needed your approval to let me out, yet that approval never came. My experience became a nonstop panic attack with paranoia that I never came down from the entire time I was there. I was made paranoid by the ridiculous amount of drugs I was prescribed everyday without you ever being present. I was on a different drug nearly every day with horrendous effects. Finally, one med calmed me down considerably. When I mentioned it, I was immediately taken off of it. Coming in, my abusive father told you I was nothing but a problem child, and you made sure I got nothing but the rough treatment even though nothing could have been further from the truth. Did you know I didn’t sleep an entire ten days (no exageration) believing that if I shut my eyes I would die? I would like to add that the girl in the room next to me that was raped by her father and tied to a guerney where she was shot full of drugs never stopped screaming every night, so perhaps you failed her too. I also hugely appreciated the big burly guy who interrogated me with rude and inappropriate questions. “Are you a punk rocker? I guess that makes you a rebel, huh? Does it make you feel tough?” I also would love to thank the lovely nurse whom, after I tore out my heart to her, looked at me oddly and just flat out said, “Your sick”. Needless to say. I have PTSD from the experience and have developed severe off the charts panic disorder likely due to the situation. And in case you are curious, I had classic harm OCD.
