I saw Dr. Silver during his emergency appt hours because I had excruciating pain in my knee. Did an XRay, said everything looked fine and gave me a shot of cortisone. That lasted 4 days and I returned, he ordered blood work to rule out RA and Lyme and an MRI. Cheryl, his nurse called me a couple of days later and said that only one blood test was back and that it indicated inflammation and she would call me as the rest came in. The next day, Cheryl called again, and told me that all blood tests came back neg and she would call w/ MRI results. She called the next day and said that Dr. Silver said the MRI "looked good and that you should take better care of your fitness". I immediately had the MRI report sent to my GP who called and said "under NO circumstances are you to exercise, what did he mean the MRI looked good". I called Cheryl back and said that my GP had seen issues in the MRI, why hadn't Dr. Silver? She called me back and said "Dr. Silver says this is not an orthopedic issue, I don't know what to tell you, just deal w/ your GP". So, *I* got the MRI report and it says THREE TIMES "grade 3 Chondromalacia of the Patella". Which IS an ortho problem and healthgrades.com says it's a procedure he has dealt with in the past. So now, here I sit, in a whole LOT of pain, having to wait 3 weeks to see a different doctor. I am now on crutches. A letter to the AG will happen. I am absolutely stunned and disgusted. I thought so highly of him. I have never been this disappointed in a doctor.
