Dr. Gary Stewart Fries, D.D.S.

I'm rating only the office staff as my daughter never made it back to see the Dr. Fries to have her wisdom teeth removed.  My older daughter had her wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Fries four years ago.  My out of pocket was $155 (20% coinsurance) so I was surprised when the office staff said I'd need to pay $440 up front before they'd operate.  When I asked why they needed so much up front they said I had a coinsurance and I said yes, but the amount should be more like $150-$200, not $440.   At this point the staff member began screaming at me from her desk on the other end of the office that she didn't care what I paid before, it was their policy to collect 20% up front.  I asked what was the basis of this 20% calculation and she said billed charges.  I told her that the 20% should be based on the negotiated rate, not billed charges and at this point she became even more irate screaming even louder that she did not care, their office's policy is to collect the entire 20% of billed charges up front and if I over pay they would refund me the difference.  Needless to say her desire to scream at me from across the office rather than have a private conversation was extremely unprofessional.  So I refused to allow my daughter to be seen by someone who employs such rude staff and will take my daughter to a oral surgeon who understands that their staff are just as important to their practice as their bedside manner.
