Dr Meschter was my doc through my pregnancy and she was great. Super responsive and attentive. I was induced at my first non-stress test appointment on March 6, the day before my due date. Dr Meschter warned me it would likely take 48 hours to have a baby and she might be off the clock when the time came. But advised me to induce anyway, so we did. The staff at cedars were fine but Dr Meschter (even tho she works across the street) only came to check on me once in the 36 hours I had been there (inducing takes FOREVER if your body isn’t ready to have a baby, and mine wasn’t), to tell me she wouldn’t be able to deliver my baby. It was deeply disappointing, especially because if she had come by hours early and caught the bag of fluid she found when she arrived as she was clocking out, she would have been able to deliver my baby that arrived 4 hours later. Someone just needed to release the fluid, which none of the other nurses had bothered to check for either. Instead I delivered with the night shift of nurses (the rumors are true - they’re not great, have terrible bedside manner, and will disappear in you!) and a doctor from the practice that I had never met before. It wasn’t a great experience, to say the least. And the next day, Dr Meschter called to say she’d come by to see me, but never did. I saw her for the first and last time at my 6 week post-partum visit. I was lucky to have an uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery, but I just didn’t get the attention I wanted at the most important moment of all - my child’s birth. It happens I guess but I hope it doesn’t happen like this with my 2nd; I’m seeing a new doctor now.
