Dr. Wakeam did not look at my CT images prior to my appointment. He came in and said he was not sure why I was there. He was not interested in my symptoms or history. I felt like he had his mind made up on my diagnosis, or lack of, prior to setting foot in my room. I went to U of M because I know the presentation of my symptoms is not "text book." I expected to be taken seriously. I also felt like he was more interested in "fixing" issues that I can tolerate. Suggesting treatment for the acid issues that I was not here to treat. The symptoms in my bladder and acid reflux are manageable. I can live with those. At the current time - I cannot do many daily tasks with out significant pain and discomfort. I need treatment for what is stopping me from life - not what is irritating. I did not ask for Dr. Wakeam - he was the doctor chosen for me by scheduling. He made me feel like I was wasting his time. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied at the level of care and lack of attention to detail this physician awarded me. Not every patient has a black and white case - and I went to a hospital NOT a car mechanic. Dr. Wakeam said, verbatim, "if I can't see it, I can't fix it." Mind you - he didn't even look at my images! He pushed on my stomach, asked if it hurt, I said yes, he said there is nothing wrong here go back to your family doctor. He even used air quotes when referring to my pain. This is unprofessional and belittling to any patient. Unacceptable.
