I'd been having foot pain for at least 2 years, which my former primary care physician had failed to address. The pain was becoming excruciating in my right foot, which made my pharmacy technician job unbearable some days. My search for a podiatrist found Dr. Colgan. My first appointment did not disappoint. X-rays taken by one of her assistants showed that I have arthritis in my foot. Dr. Colgan explained it was due to my flat feet and demonstrated how flat feet affect the foot bones. She then explained all the possible treatment options, from oral to injectable steroids, better shoes (with recommendations to where to get a foot analysis and shoe fitting), orthotics (with a list of quality ones), to the last resort of surgery. I appreciate a complete treatment. So far the oral steroids have eliminated my foot pain and I'm now scheduling a foot analysis and looking at the orthotics that she recommended. I should also mention that her office staff and assistant were friendly yet professional.
