I've been seeing Deanna Dodd for a while now and she was the first counselor that gave me any feeling of hope after being in a very deep depression for months where I felt nothing but grief and pain. I didn't know how to enjoy things I once did. I find her very patient and accepting. I have felt more comfortable being open with her than any other counselor I tried because I felt no judgement from her, and that has led to some real progress for me. Before I felt really stuck, but now while I certainly still have my bad days and such, I know how to feel happy again (I don't constantly feel grief all of the time). I was afraid I had lost that ability. She will challenge you, but in a positive way that at least for myself, I felt really helped me grow. My relationship with my parents even feels better, which is nice, due to skills I learned working with her (while still being able to celebrate me!). I appreciate her guidance on my journey to getting better and consider her a great ally for bettering my mental health.
