I have had severe iron deficiency anemia for 4 years, requiring several blood transfusions and innumerable IV iron infusions, all while taking oral iron. Dr. Levitan did an initial workup in 2018, but insisted my problem wasn’t GI, even though I have a history of GI bleed. I had another GI bleed in summer 2022, and Dr. Levitan won’t even see me. I have been forced to see a PA who he doesn’t even supervise. The PA is insisting I have surgery, and Dr. Levitan won’t even do a workup. I tried to transfer care within Texas Digestive, and the transfer was denied. I keep trying to schedule with Dr. Levitan himself to discuss, since his opinion is so grossly different than this PA, but I keep getting stuck back with the PA. I’m completely hamstrung, and no one will help me. The PA told me I would have to go to Dallas (30 miles away) to find GI care.

Dr. Levitan is knowledgeable, extremely competent, and highly recommended by peer doctors.  Top notch diagnostic experience - specialties in cancer detection and prevention.
My wife has used him for  5 years.  I shifted from my doctor to him, as I found him to be even more knowledgeable and competent.

Takes the time to explain findings, recommendations and diagnosis.  Very concerned with his patients' well being. 

The staff at Lone Star Endoscopy where he operates is top notch - smooth, on-time, patient focused.  Best we have seen in 3 states.

Not my worst experience with a gastro doctor but it's one of them. Before going to Dr. Levitan, I had  previous blood work done, an ultrasound, and an endoscopy with a different specialist. Since I moved away from Houston into DFW, I went to Dr. Levitan  to follow up since a year has passed. Understandably, I was instructed  to do more blood work, another ultrasound, another endoscopy and a colonoscopy.  All those tests after a first visit. which they try to schedule you for before you even have a chance to talk to your insurance. Then, after I canceled the endoscopy and colonoscopy, and got my bloodwork and ultrasound results, I was instructed to just take a certain probiotic, follow a low FODMAP diet, and to call back if things change. Essentially, they told me to go somewhere else if I didn't like their approach.  Quite frankly, the whole experience was awful, and this office treats you like you owe them your life. Don't go here if you feel like you're worth more than a quick buck for these  cons.
