Danielle Strobeck, LMSW

I found Danielle Strobeck on PsychologyToday where she listed Body Positivity as one of her allied communities and one of her specialties as dealing with non suicidal self-harm. I am in ED recovery for BN which I was hospitalized for in the past, and was seeking a body positive or neutral therapist. In three appointments she did a lot of self-disclosure on her own mental health struggles and weight loss, advised me to cut sugar to meet my ultimate goal weight, and compared her thin body to mine. I left appointments triggered to act on symptoms and driven to tears in a non-constructive way. I do not say this lightly: she was traumatizing. For months afterward her voice and face featured in my memories and she directly set back my recovery. If I wanted ED tips, I would go back to a pro-ed forum. I genuinely think she's dangerous to anyone with an eating disorder. She's not a good therapist. 

Amazing- she has been such a breath of fresh air. 

We only had only a handful visits with her and I left the situation completely traumatized & in far worse shape than when we met her. She identified trauma, abandonment & communication issues, after a very confusing appointment I sent her an email asking her about it about it and she fired us immediately. No transition of care to someone else, nothing. She went off on me because she was billing me less than her coworkers make & had opted to take me during evening hours which interrupts her time with her family & had dared to question her capabilities. 

It was a wildly unprofessional response, even if I had sent her an email telling her I thought she was terrible it STILL would have been a wildly unprofessional response. Two subsequent therapists that my husband & I have spoken with have both requested that she be reported because of mulitple ethical breaches, she should be under supervision and not be allowed to supervise anyone else.
