I cannot express how much I recommend both Dr. Sol, as well as his entire Meaningful Change practice. I've been seeing Dr. Sol for nearly two years now and in that time he's taught me the ways to create actual, long-lasting positive change in your life, and he's done so in a way that is both realistic and entertaining. He is always in your corner, even if that means telling you something you don't want to hear. You always know what to expect from Dr. Sol, and he will tell it to you like it is. His ability to make you feel welcomed, and to destigmatize mental health issues and discussions is second to none. Before seeing Dr. Sol I was unable to have a meaningful conversation about my mental health, and now I'm able to. Overall if you're in the surrounding area and are struggling mentally, there is no one better to meet with than Dr. Sol.
Dr. Sol and his staff are truly the best in the business! I was a patient of Dr. Sol's originally back in 2018/2019 while attending CMU. My original experience with different therapists almost made me quit my journey of trying to better my mental health. This was until a good friend introduced me to Dr. Sol. I can't express enough how much I thank my friend for leading me to him! I reconnected with Dr. Sol last year and did all of my appointments virtually since I no longer live in the area. Dr. Sol was so accommodating with helping me over the past year. I can honestly say I'm sad our sessions have now come to an end, but know he is someone I can always reach out to in times of need. Dr. Sol has been a huge impact on my mental health journey and has really paved the way for me to handle issues/situations on my own with the tools and resources provided. I highly recommend anyone reaching out to Meaningful Change and consulting with Dr. Sol if you are in need. He truly is an amazing psychologist and deserves every ounce of success that is bound to come his way!
Dr. Sol has done wonders for my family. It is clear from your first visit that he cares for you, your progress, and overall well-being. He is very personable, which allows you to build a connection instantly, be 100% transparent and talk freely in a safe place. He will help you set realistic goals and together, you decide the action steps (including homework) needed to achieve those goals. You will learn proper communication techniques, listening skills, and ways to improve relationships with others. Mental health is a tough journey. Thankfully, there is never a doubt Dr. Sol is with you every single step of the way. I highly recommend Dr. Sol.
Strongly recommend. So down to earth, and so helpful. Atmosphere is relaxed and safe. Very easy to talk to.
I have been seeing Dr. Sol since 2019, during that time he helped me through so much. As an African American, there is a stigma behind seeking help to improve mental health. Dr. Sol was able to understand the issues of being Black in a rural area and the generational issues, oppression, racism, and microagressions that may play a factor in one’s mental health. I highly recommend Dr. Sol for anyone, especially people of color in Mt. Pleasant!!!!! He truly cares and I could always depend on him to be honest and straight forward with me. I could be myself unapologetically.
Have you ever felt like your doctor doesn't really hear you or only hears part of what you've just said? Well I have... especially, when I've sought help for my mental health troubles. In my experience with seeking professional help, too often in this field, I am categorized/diagnosed and transform into a projection of all the other's whom have had a similar experience or prognosis. It is rare that my story remains separate from the millions of individuals who share their own version of abandonment and/or physical and sexual trauma. Until I found Dr. Sol, who never saw me as just another patient struggling with their own bout of trauma/anxiety/depression - he genuinely saw me as the young woman, who's greater than the sum of all her past experiences and future abilities. He saw me as a human, who just wanted to be seen and heard. Dr. Sol empowered me to identify the ways my past experiences were intermingling with my present, he guided me to healing on my own and never placed me in the same box of any of his previous patients (no matter the similarity in our experiences). He recognizes the bigger picture and sees the individuality of each experience/person. He listens, comforts, mentors, teaches, and LEGITIMATELY HELPS his patients - I truly couldn't recommend someone more. Beyond his skills and abilities, Dr. Sol's proper English accent and his own life stories, can make anyone laugh until you cry or write the most heartfelt "thank you" card one could muster - it would be selfish for me or anyone to keep this Doctor's abilities to themselves. Dr. Sol could teach SO MANY clinicians in this field a thing or 12 about good practices for mental health treatment!
This man deserves more credit than he is given. I worked with him for over a year, and he always saw me during later hours, when no one else was around. He was always accommodating. Dr. Sol and I got along very well, and I feel like he is the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back to help you. I've seen responses from emails come in as late as 10:30pm so you know you can rely on him in times of need. He is definitely no nonsense, and while that is what I definitely needed, I feel like that is the only way to do proper therapy. Why would I want someone who is going to tiptoe around my feelings when the reason I'm there is because of my feelings. I've been to a few other therapist who helped me fix my immediate problems, which obviously feels like they helped, and then problems start re-occurring and then you're in need of a therapist again. I was hesitant to go again, however following an absolutely terrible relationship, I felt I had to try again or give up on relationships. I'm glad I tried again, as I'm now so much happier in my life and my relationships with people. I have the courage to stand up for myself and treat myself the way I deserve, as well as communicate what I need before problems start happening, instead of bottling my feeling inside where they end up being a mental health problem and you have to start the all over again. He gives you the tools to succeed instead of giving you what you need. There will probably be "homework". You don't just magically get better by talking, you get better by doing. It will be uncomfortable, it can and will be hard, but you are there to change the bad thought processes and actions in your life, and that takes time and effort, at least if your there for something that takes time. I honestly recommend him to every person I talk about therapy with. He told me once about some of the work he does in the community, and you can tell this guy actually cares. Through my time in therapy I honestly consider him my friend, and I'm actually pretty picky about my friends. He blew me away with how much he actually remembered from previous sessions about me, without needing to go through his notes all the time. He was always in a good mood despite it being after hours. It seemed he enjoyed helping me, as I'm sure he will enjoy helping you. I honestly can't recommend him enough. Whether you're looking to turn yourself around, or maybe you just need to talk some things out, please go to him, he will help.
I met with Dr. Sol as a new years resolution having struggled with bipolar disorder for most of my adult life. It turns out I was misdiagnosed and given the wrong medications for years, but I had a long standing form of major depression and trauma. Diagnosing me right took some time. After that began the work of change, which was hard, but it has been drastically helpful. Working with Dr Sol was rough at first. He is a no nonsense doctor, but its what I needed. I now live the life I want, without medication, and without my old demons. I strongly recommend him for anyone who wants a serious therapist.
