I am not on any medications and don’t like taking any medications unless absolutely necessary. I do suffer from insomnia which affects me more when I am particularly stressed and I told her I’ve had a very stressful year after a series of stressful situations to deal with, and it’s affecting my sleep, which in turn affects my overall health. I specifically asked for a NON addictive sedative - I told her I took Ambien in the past (I took it sparingly only and a 30 day prescription lasted me a whole year) but due to its addictive qualities I don’t want to take it again. I told her what works for me right now is Aleve PM but I don’t like taking that either because it’s not the best for your stomach lining to use regularly. I also told her I’ve taken Rozerem in the past (it’s non addictive and has been on the market forever) and her response was that she’s never heard of Rozerem before and that was that. She didn’t bother looking it up and instead suggested that I seek counseling. I don’t need counseling. I need a sleep aid. Lack of quality sleep affects the quality of your health and she doesn’t seem to understand that so I wouldn’t recommend this doctor at all. She suggested I take melatonin instead. For all the insomniacs out there who know that melatonin isn’t effective, be aware. I’ve been dealing with this for the past year and finally went to the doctor to help, and it left me at square one. I won’t return here and neither will my spouse. She seems like an inexperienced doctor. If I thought a holistic approach was the answer I would have sought out a holistic professional.
