Back in 2002, Cindy was diagnosed with a very large abdominal tumor - stage 4 cancer. Dr. Zietz created a "game plan" which included six chemo treatments, two years of Rituxan and a lot of monitoring - to make sure her body was able to get rid of the dying tumor. He did a great job communicating his strategy to us and we had 100% faith in what he planned to do. The first two chemo treatments went pretty smoothly. Dr. Zietz did a top notch job making sure her body was able to dispose of the dead tumor cells - no blocking of the kidneys, etc. They measured her food and water intake and waste output to insure she was okay. The next four chemo treatments were very tough on her. Nausea, pains, weakness, etc. She struggled and wound up in the ER many times. Dr. Zietz did everything he could to keep her pain and nausea down and we did what we could to keep her spirits up. Right around the fifth chemo treatment, we were informed that Dr. Zietz had changed who he was able to work with (primary care groups and our HMO). Needless to say, we were very concerned about this, but Dr. Zietz told us that he would stay with us until we completed the chemo treatments and he knew the tumor was gone. After the next two chemo treatments, he ran some tests and sure enough, the cancer was gone! He saved her life! The next two years, she was doing her Rituxan (monoclonal antibody) which was to insure that the cancer stayed away. She had a new Oncologist for those two years. I saw the dedication Dr. Zietz gave to Cindy. He truly cared about her well being and I felt that he wasn't going to let the cancer take her away. He made sure she was cancer free, even though he changed his medical group affiliation. To top things off, a year or so later, a client came to me for an auto purchase. When we got to talking, I found out that he was a good friend of Dr. Zietz's son. He had the utmost respect for Dr. Zietz and told me how great of a man he is. It was really nice to hear this from my own client!
