WARNING TO ALL WHO SEE THIS! I am having to post this review on behalf of my wife because she was blocked from Barbara's Maitri Midiwfery FB account. Barbara created a new Maitri Midwifery FB account after the incident with my wife which we believe was to stop her from leaving a negative review and telling her story of what happened. We had an AWFUL experience with Barbara. This is what my wife has to say: I found out my baby was breech at around 36-37 weeks. I switched from my birth center to Barbara and had a few prenatal visits before I gave birth. I was at home and called Barbara in the middle of the night when I was having contractions. She lives over an hour from me and I previously told her I give birth insanely quick and this was my 3rd baby so she knew things were going to happen fast. First time I called her she said you sound fine so call me when things get more intense. I waited like 20 min more then called again and told her it was more intense. She said okay you still sound fine.. I’ll alert the team but call me again when you can barely talk and its really intense. After I got off the phone, 20 min later my water broke and I called her again. Finally she was on her way. She never actually made it. I had a cord prolapse at home without her and had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency c section that I was put to sleep for. She wouldn’t even return back my $500 deposit after the birth when I kept asking her to since she didn’t attend it. She refused and sent a letter to my home and claimed that because I kept asking for my deposit back, I was putting the loss of the birth experience I wanted over the health of my baby…

She was on the phone with us while I was in the ambulance and came to the hospital and told my mom to lie about who she was and not to tell the paramedics or the doctors “the full story.” I believe she was trying to protect herself as a homebirth midwife doing breech births but for her to tell my mom this was crossing the line.

After the birth, she entered incorrect, FALSE information in the online portal I had with her, stating a fake time she and the other attendant arrived at my house (they never came), a fake weight and info of the baby, etc. Basically she put in fake info about her coming and a postpartum visit (never happened). I believe she did that so she could still get paid from my insurance. I have alerted friends about Barbara and made sure to let my community know that she is not a safe midwife.
