I had a pretty terrible experience with Anne Weaver. I saw Anne for three sessions before she decided she couldn't work with my trauma. Instead of being honest and sending me on my way, Anne said she would find interim support for me, and meet with me and my partner, in order to help with the trauma I was dealing with acutely in the meantime. Anne also said she would make all appropriate referrals. This would have been great, had she done any of it. Instead, Anne didn't keep her word. She never found the interim support she promised, never met with my partner and myself, and the single referral she made to me doesn't even take my insurance. When I asked Anne about this, she screamed at me to go to a peer respite, or go to the emergency room. For the record, one of the respites she recommended does not exist yet, one is nearly 600 per day, and someone just got stabbed, nearly to death at the third. When I drew her attention to this, she resumed screaming at me to go to the hospital. She started screaming about the holiday traffic she would have to deal with on her way to her vacation. I'm a trauma survivor who has had horrific experiences in the psych system. Anne knows this. All I needed was someone to talk to. Anne volunteered to help me with this, but instead, this "recovery orientated, strength based" therapist was screaming that I should go to the emergency room. I didn't need to completely derail my life and traumatize myself by going inpatient, I just needed someone to talk to, so I could keep moving forward. Basically, this therapist may mean well, but my experience with Anne was pretty harmful. This therapist does NOT work in a recovery model, and she does not have any class conscious or trauma awareness.
