Dr. Alicia Wilkerson, D.O.

I went to Dr.Wilkerson because I was out of my diabetes medicine and she said she needed to check my A1C before she could fill my prescription. So my A1C was 8.9 and my left leg was swollen and my blood pressure was slightly elevated. She referred me to a Vein Specialist and I didn't hear from her for about 2 weeks. On 04/19/24, I called her to see why I hadn't heard from her and she informed me that I had a blood clot in my left leg and needed to go to the Vein Specialist she referred me to immediately. The next day, (04\20\25, I went to JPS hospital due to severe pain in my left leg. I repeated what Dr. Wilkerson said about the blood clot in my left leg and they asked me if she had performed a Sonogram on my leg? I told them no and that she only did blood work. JPS performed a Sonogram on my left leg to reveal that I have Neuropathy and not a blood clot. This information made me upset because I was frightened by the diagnosis of a blood clot that Dr. Wilkerson had claimed was in my left leg. I still haven't had my diabetes medicine filled and have been out since 04/05/24 and it is 05/28/24. I am in the process of getting a new PCP, I will not be returning to Dr. Wilkerson's office.

This office doesn't make appointments, so you have to walk in & wait quite awhile. I feel like Dr. Wilkerson barely examined me. She talked most of the time & never asked me if I had any concerns or questions. I went back a second time to request some specialist referrals. A week later & the referrals have still not been processed. I tried calling the office to get an update, but no one answered or returned my voicemails, so I had to cancel my specialist appointments. This process was very discouraging. I will now be looking for a new PCP.
