Dr. Alan Neal Sedell, DMD

Dr. Sedell has a difficult personality.  He has to be right, he doesn't listen and talks over you.  As long as things go his way, he's mostly ok.  When things don't - beware.

He started a 2-part a root canal but after the first visit my tooth was excruciatingly painful.  He kept insisting it would be sensitive but this wasn't sensitive - it was nearly unbearable for days.  The side of my jaw was swollen, after a day or two there was bruising on my jaw and under my chin.  When I tried to tell him he got angry, insisting that my tooth was only sensitive and there wouldn't be a bruise.

I was scheduled to go back but had to emergency spinal cord surgery the day of my appointment.  After a week long stay at NY Presbyterian's Spine Hospital and 3 days at home I called his office to get a new appointment.  Fortunately, the pain medication for my back keep my toothache at bay but as I ended the pain meds, my toothache flared up again.

I told Dr. Sedell's office about my tumor and emergency surgery but when I called, he blamed me for my toothache saying it was my fault because I missed my appointment.  When I reminded him why, he said everyone has an excuse.  I was stunned.  He said Aetna didn't pay him enough to bother with me and that there was nothing wrong with my tooth - yet I am still in pain and the side of my jaw is still swollen more than a month later.  

Dr. Sedell has a serious Napoleonic complex.  He is an angry little man in every way.
