Most of the staff is great, however I don’t recommend this facility or network for mental health patients. I went on leave from work due to my PPD, chronic depression and anxiety in June 2021. I was attending therapy appointments with behavioral health and it seemed to be helping. However, none of the counselors/therapist were able to provide any resources for help with Marijuana addiction/dependence as if they simply thought it wasn't possible to have marijuana depended. I was lectured at length by a condescending NP during a video appointment that I need to quit and advised that smoking two blunts a day was excessive however she provided no resources to assist me with quitting (ex. Support groups/MA)I spoke with so many different people it was impossible to build a relationship with a provider or even make any substantial progress because with each new person I was trying to explain my situation over again, constantly having to start over instead of making progress. I did have one consistent therapist that I spoke to a total of 3 times in behavioral health. We spoke at length about my anxiety and depression, as well as past traumas and life experiences. She was able to help me develop new coping skills and helped me understand the chemical imbalance in the brain when it comes to depression and anxiety. she really made me feel better about myself and let me know that everything I was going through was symptoms of anxiety and depression and it wasn’t just me. She suggest meds and advised that my primary care dr would need to prescribe them and advised he was the only one that could approve my FMLA documents. Due to my suicidal thoughts, and long waiting to go see my primary care dr, I was prescribed depression and anxiety medications before my visit with my primary care. I am very thankful because the meds helped me a lot. When I finally got my visit with my primary care physician Dr. Arron Cooper in August he advised that the issues I described were “charter flaws,” and not related to anxiety or depression. My FMLA was denied and as a result I was fired from my job. Despite Dr. Cooper being a MEDICAL doctor with no training to my knowledge, in behavioral health. I had already spoken to my therapist about my symptoms and conditions at length and she was the one who diagnosed me with PPD, chronic depression and anxiety and suggested the medication. It was disheartening to say the least that my Dr. brushed these issues off as a charter issues. Since that visit in August of 2021 I have made several lifestyle changes that help with my anxiety and depression and recently found support for my addiction/dependence on my own. I wish I had the mental bandwidth to appeal his decision or even disagree when he advised me of my, “charter flaws,” but I was already in a low place, he definitely didn’t help. I came into Kaiser suicidal and desperate for help and to be told my symptoms were nothing more than a charter flaw was the worse experience I’ve ever experienced from a medical professional and there is no way I would ever go back or recommend this facility to anyone. Dr. Arron Coopers advised me of this after just meeting me once for a 30 minute office visit which he arrived late to and without knowing any of my past history or even consulting with my therapist in behavior heath. If I ever get in a dark place again, I will not be going here.
