"Very odd bedside manner. Strange guy. Too eager to do a biopsy. Go someplace else or at least get a second opinion before getting a biopsy. He does not answer the Patient Portal - ever. Office staff is inattentive and slow."

"I saw Dr. Nienhuis for swollen lymph nodes and chronic throat clearing. When he walked in the door, he rambled on and said dismissive things like, “All right, let’s see if this isn’t just anxiety and stress.” Are you kidding me? Every time he said it my heart rate increased with anger because of his blatant disrespect. His website says, “I treat patients with kindness and respect….” This is utterly false. The whole time he was examining my ears, nose, throat, and neck, he kept referring to these body parts as “beautiful,” which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I’m sure he’d never refer to his male clients that way – very sexist. What was also very disrespectful was that he accused me of being bulimic. I was like, “Huh?” Clearly, he was stereotyping me because of my thinner (but NOT underweight) body. After the visit, he told me to just go home and “try to forget about all of this.” I felt so belittled. As if I, as a 22 year old woman, am not smart enough or have the intuition to know that there is something wrong with my body, which there was, and I alone have taken the appropriate steps to get rid of the issues no thanks to him."
