"Not a good doctor! Neglectful for my elderly mother who consequentially passed away. Did not read chest x ray till afternoon of next day then did not take time to call Mom. Mom much trouble breathing taken to emergency room the day after seeing dr. Office nurse very rude and had snotty attitude on phone..saying loudly..Dr has no time to look at results of xray!!!!She has other patients!!! Double pneumonia and Dr did not even send 88 yr. Mom immediately to hospital or make time to call her at home in person to help or to tell her get to hospital! Mom taken to icu that night. Passed. A terrible Dr.!!! Does not do well for the elderly. Told Mom she might have scabies when she had double pneumonia. Did not order blood test. Sent mom driving to Burnet to get chest xray but didnt read it till next afternoon, then illiterate nurse did not report it correctly to me over phone. Inept rude nursing staff. Inept Dr. "

What is Family Medicine?

Currently in medical care in the United States, there are four main primary care specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and geriatrics. They can provide check-ups, immunizations, screening services, gynecological exams and obstetric care, routine health care, and health counseling. When more specialized care is needed, a family medicine doctor can refer their patients to appropriate specialists. They can become educators and advocates for their patients in the sometimes overwhelming health care system.

As health care changes in this country, family medicine is a growing specialty for families and individuals who are seeking more personalized health care and a more personal relationship with their physician.
