"I had an introductory call with Ms. Bowen in September 2021. During the course of the conversation I asked if she was comfortable helping process issues specific to African American women. She paused, then retorted that she should think so since she’s an Asian woman. She was passive aggressive and I hoped I had misread her rudeness. I did not and it was confirmed when I filled out my paperwork and tried multiple times to reach her for an appointment. She simply never responded. It is unprofessional to pretend you will see a potential client, then “ghost” them. Especially since asking a therapist about their cultural comfort level with Black people is completely legitimate. Her overreaction leads me to believe she is not compassionate toward the unique needs of black folk; her comparison of Black people’s experiences in America to Asians’ is also an indication of competence."
