Over the years I have, by luck, been under the care of some of the most well regarded surgeons in the country and Dr. McGarvey more than holds his own as one of the best. Just like any doctor he has an individual personality and tends to be more reserved and keep explanations and opinions short and to the point. This tends to be normal for many top surgeons or specialists who face ridiculous demand for services. In order to meet this demand and provide his services to as many as possible he must be efficient. While under his care I was exposed to the truly crazy hours that he works and puts into his patients that many don't realize. Some patients want a doctor who will hand hold and baby through the whole process. Be prepared with your questions and he will absolutely answer all of them. He also really takes into account what you have to say about your own injury. The practice also tends to force fit many patients into the schedule on same day notice. This is GREAT when you need it, but be prepared as this means everyone has to wait, even if you have an appt. This will turn some people off but in the end, you get seen and treated by a great surgeon."
