Dermatologists - Dallas, TX

"Made an appointment two weeks ago. Today, they call me to let me know that my insurance was not accepted. What?!!! I chose the Dr. from the list of my network doctors provided from Aetna website. I called Aetna and they reassured me that they were in my network. Called back Doctor's office and left a message, I have not heard from them since. I am not sure if they regularly check messages. They say they check insurance 24 hours before the actual appointment. Waiting 2 weeks to see an specialist and receiving a call a day before about insurance issues is very disappointing. It is sad that they don't check insurance thoroughly since they are in my network. They should inform patients about insurance issues at time of making the appointment. I had to make work arrangements and schedule an appointment with another Doctor. Weird, with this Doctor they told me right away that insurance was accepted and in network and I can be seen in two days! Office staff was very courteous and helpful in scheduling and verifying insurance! Both Doctors are listed in my Aetna's in-network list."

"Had my annual skin check with her office. Great bedside manner, thorough and quick. Sent me to the aesthetician on staff to sample some products I had asked about. She was honest about a mole removal and what is within her scope of practice, was happy to refer me to a plastic surgeon for my needs. Awesome doctor and her staff loves their jobs!"

"I do not recommend this dermatologist. I chose Dr. Kingston because she was highly rated on my insurance provider's website. While, I was pleased with her level of knowledge, I have been very much displeased with her level of service/bedside manner. She was able to immediately diagnose and treat my issue, but gave zero opportunity for me to ask questions. Instead, she gave me a printout of information regarding my condition (something I easily found on Google once home) and sent me on my way to pay. Following the appointment, I developed complications that were a direct result of the treatment. I called the office's nurse hotline six times with no answer and left two messages over the course of a week. When finally I got a call back I was initially pleased with the nurse's response. Upon further correspondence, I was given an antibiotic prescription for the complication but rushed off the phone and again given no opportunity to ask questions. As a result, I have decided to seek a different dermatologist and will not return to Dr. Kingston. "

"When I first visited, was told "Highland Dermatology & Aesthetics Center" does not take Aetna. Called their general office and was told they do take Aetna Advantage as long as is a PPO. Had to inform the staff of this. Next appointment was told they want a CC or $100 deposit. It was explained it was similar to renting a car; medical examination for cancer like renting a car. At the time I objected. Then after a bad experience with a "Blue Light" treatment I told the doctor I would not subject myself to it again. On a subsequent appointment, I asked that a blemish on my face be removed and was told they have a laser machine for that. The machine was inoperative at the time but was told I'd be call when it was repaired. Eight months later I returned for my next scheduled appointment after no one ever bothered to call. It was cosmetic, meaning I would have meant "out of pocket". When I arrived for my April 7th appointment I was refused service because I refused to give them my credit card to hold or $100 cash. I think they should be more interested in patient care instead. They're not asking this of all new patients, leaving me to believe it has to do with the type of insurance used rather than a blanket request for leaving money on the table. Dr. Thrash's service was outstanding."
