Optometrist - Bedford, TX

"Took my son in for new contacts. Since his prescription changed slightly, we were trying to decide whether or not to update his glasses (which he rarely wears). We were told that with our insurance the total cost would be $204 for glasses & contacts. A week later we picked up the glasses & contacts. I was surprised when they said we owed an additional $108 for the contacts. It appears that 'total cost' doesn't mean all that you will owe at First Eye Care. I told the office manager that we were told our total cost would be $204 for everything & that's why I decided to buy the glasses. The office manager was unsympathetic. She was incapable of making a decision because the Dr. Catuncan was out of country. She knew that the $108 pmt would cost her 3 patients, but she didn't care. She "couldn't give me the contacts for free." That's okay, there are plenty of other places in the DFW area for eye care with competent staff that won't mislead their patients. First Eye Care Bedford is not one of those offices. If you want to deal with competent staff that gives honest cost information upfront, I recommend you find someplace else. In addition, we have excellent vision insurance, so paying $312 for the exam, one box of contacts, and single vision glasses is extremely overpriced. This bad experience probably saved us a lot of money in the long run..."
