"We visited Dr. Koenig after being referred by a general orthopedist Doctor. The visit was for a re-fracture of the 5th metatarsal. My daughter was very comfortable with Dr. Koenig's calm bedside manner. He explained everything to us about the injury and gave us options. We decided upon surgery to fix the fracture and transfer the tendons involved. I can't say enough about the nurses and everyone at the Prohealth surgical center. They were all wonderful. The surgery went well and we were at ease with the process since Dr. Koenig explained it well. The after care has been very positive too. Prompt appointments, never rushed, all questions answered. "

What is Surgery?

Surgery is the field of medicine dedicated to using surgical procedures to treat medical conditions. Surgeons can assess patients with imaging scans (X-ray, MRI, CT scan), medical history, biopsy (tissue sample), or other tests. Elective surgery is any surgical procedure that can be planned for at an earlier date. For example, patients may decide to receive surgery for vision correction or for a hip replacement. Some surgeries are unplanned (also referred to as emergency surgeries), such as when an appendix ruptures or an individual endures severe injury.

Surgeons may collaborate with anesthesiologists, primary care physicians, specialists, and surgical assistants, among others.
