"I had been to the ER for a knee that suddenly was the size of a grapefruit and extremely painful, for no reason. They diagnosed bursitis and a popliteal cyst. I went to Dr. McMahon for followup. Parking at his office is very difficult, there aren't enough patient spaces--all taken by staff. After finally getting a spot, I hobbled on my crutches to his office door, where 2 staff were huddled on the sidewalk on a break. Despite my obvious difficulty and the fact that they were so close to the door I could barely get by them, neither one offered to help me with the door. Bad start. Had a very short wait, and went into to Dr. McMahon, who was still dictating notes from his previous patient when I came in. Despite having provided them with all of the ER xrays and the ultrasound & doctor reports, he hadn't read any of it and asked me what the problem was. I explained the problem, and was cut off mid-sentence. Did a very cursory exam of the knee and said I should ice it and come back in a week. Baker's cysts are very painful, and when I asked about pain meds, the conversation turned difficult. His assumption seemed to be that I was a drug addict looking for oxycodone, despite no evidence of that. Good grief, I am a busy mom who can't sleep, walk or bend my knee and am in constant pain all the time. Just want some near-term relief. I was quickly ushered out with the words "I don't prescribe narcotics". I will never go back. I will see someone else to help me with the cyst, which needs to be drained. "
