"There is no excuse for the mistreatment I received at this place and I would be doing a disservice to anyone who may think to google her by not warning them. So, to you reading this… Whatever you are going through, I know it may be rough… but hang in there. At times, life will challenge us and we might feel the weight of the world on our shoulders. Just know that there are good people in this world that will help support and pull you through. I recommend you keep searching because this isn’t a place of understanding and healing. Take your time and vet the provider you see and don’t just assume that person will automatically have your best interests at heart. Lawanna Brown clearly has some serious issues of her own to address before attempting to counsel anyone. She carries some sort of delusion that she can diagnose an individual from a 30 minute conversation and lost her temper when calmly asked how she came to her assessment. She prods into your history without compassion and had an unnecessarily nasty attitude even though I was in a vulnerable state. Don’t trust her with your secrets or let down your guard lest you be traumatized in a similar manner that I was subjected to… It is possible she gets some sick, twisted thrill from feeding off of the pain of her patients as she does not appear to actually care about their feelings… only her own. I expected an open and attentive provider and was met with a moody and combative lady that would not qualify as anything close to professional. After leaving the small, impersonal office, I even thought to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was having a bad day. Looking back, it wasn’t my job to feel empathy for this woman and her erratic behavior. She was getting paid to literally be there for the person who she badgered to the point of tears on her couch. I was taught to be respectful to my elders and thought she would be a motherly type, but she is more like the grumpy aunt that you try to avoid at family functions because you have to walk on eggshells so as not to illicit her wrath. I was so rattled after the appointment, it took me a while before I was able to resume my search for a counselor. I was able to find someone both experienced AND caring. No point in trying to work with someone that would kick you while you are down. Keep looking to build a positive support system. You’ll get through this… "
